NEMA South South Zone in collaboration with the Nigerian Airforce today continued with the airlifting of non-food items to persons affected by flood disaster in Bayelsa State.
The airlifted items today were some NFIs to the Igbogene Helipad, Yenagoa Bayelsa State.
The items were handed over to the representative of the State Government Hon. Angus Dede. While handing over, the Zonal Coordinator Godwin Tepikor who represented the Director General of NEMA conveyed the empathy and sympathy of the DG to the Governor and all those that were affected by the flood in the state. He also thanked the Chief of Air Staff for expeditiously approving the airlift of the items in aid of NEMA to Bayelsa state. In his response, Hon Dede who also doubles as the Secretary of the BYSEMA, thanked the Federal Government and NEMA for coming to the aid of the flood affected persons in the state.
He also appreciated the Chief of Air Staff for graciously approving the airlift operation for the state. After the handing over, the Zonal Staff in company of the Commander 115 SOG Group Capt AA Opaleye,Nigerian Airforce and officials of the BYSEMA went to the Ox-Bow Lake Pavilion Camp in Yenagoa to see the camp and the IDPs and to interact with the Camp Manager Hon. Ebiuwon Koku Obiyo. The Camp Manager also appreciated the federal government for the gesture and promised that the items would be judiciously utilized for the benefit of the IDPs in the state.
