Director General of NEMA Attends Closing of Training Workshop on Flood Resilience*

The workshop titled “Building urban Resilience in Nigeria: Emergency Preparedness and Response Assessment Lessons Learned,” which began on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, for staff of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) ,, State Emergency Management Agencies SEMA and various stakeholders, has concluded today.

The workshop was a collaborative effort between the World Bank, the Global Facility for Disaster Risk Reduction, and NEMA.

Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the Director General of NEMA, participated in the closing ceremony. While giving her remarks the DG expressed her gratitude to the World Bank Global Facility for Disaster Risk Reduction for their dedication and collaboration with NEMA in organizing the workshop. She also encouraged all participants to apply the insights and knowledge they acquired to enhance their skills and boost their performance in their respective organizations and states.

Furthermore, the DG reiterated NEMA’s ongoing commitment to the continuous capacity building of disaster management professionals across the nation.

Participants also expressed their appreciation to the World Bank, GFDRR, and NEMA for the opportunity to engage in the workshop which was also held in the six Geo political zones of the country.

Certificates were presented to the participants during the closing ceremony.
