NEMA-South West Zonal Office on Tuesday 5th December, 2023 flagged off distribution of relief materials to persons affected by Flood & Gully erosion disaster across nine (9) LGAs in Ogun East Senatorial constituency.
The distribution exercise was carried out in collaboration with OGSEMA and representatives from affected nine (9) LGAs to cushion the effects of the disaster on the people.
While presenting the items to the beneficiaries, the ZC, Mr Saheed Akiode noted that the relief items were token which can’t quantify the losses incurred but to make them feel the impact of Federal Government in their trying time. He enjoined them to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse on drainages and building on waterways to avoid possible occurrence of the event.
The distribution exercise was witnessed by relevant stakeholders, amongst which was Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Mrs. Funmi Efuwape who appreciated NEMA for its kind gesture and assured judicious use of the items given to the affected persons.
The beneficiaries also appreciated the Federal Government for kind assistance and They appealed to Federal and State Governments to use physical mitigation measures to solve the ecological challenge in their communities.
