COMMUNITY BASED SENSITIZATION ON IMPLICATIONS OF THE 2023 IMPENDING FLOOD IN NIGER STATE HELD AT MAIKUNKELE, BOSSO LGA, NIGER STATE.

NEMA, MOO held a Community Based Sensitization on Flood Preparedness titled “COMMUNITY BASED SENSITIZATION ON IMPLICATIONS OF THE 2023 IMPENDING FLOOD IN NIGER STATE HELD AT MAIKUNKELE, BOSSO LGA, NIGER STATE.

The sensitization program was aimed at admonishing Villagers, Community leaders, Farmers and those at river bank to begin preparations as well as putting mitigative measures in place against the effect of 2023 Impending Flood. This call becomes necessary following the Annual Flood Outlook (AFO) released by the Nigeria Hydrological Service Agency and the Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP) by Nigeria Metrological Agency (NIMET), which categorized Niger State as high flood risk State.

The program was led by Dr. Zainab A. Ndanusa who represented the Head Minna Operations Office in her opening remarks she thanked the District Head of Maikunkele Alh. Suleiman Abdullahi Dada who has always demonstrated huge support towards the course of Disaster Management in Niger State. She also admonishes communities to be resilient and proactive towards the 2023 impending flood, she thanked all the participants and hoped for better participation during the course of the program.

The program was well attended by District Heads, Mai Unguwas, State Director NOA, LGAs Officials NSEMA, Farmers and Market Women. The program recorded a huge success.
