NEMA organises Flood Preparedness Campaign in Plateau State

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on May 29, 2025, held a one-day stakeholder engagement in Jos, Plateau State, as part of its 2025 National Preparedness and Response Campaign (NPRC). The event aimed to enhance flood risk awareness and preparedness, drawing insights from the 2025 Seasonal Climate Prediction and Annual Flood Outlook by NiMet and NIHSA.

NEMA’s Director General, represented by Mr. Razaq Adebiyi, highlighted the importance of annual engagements and community sensitization in disaster mitigation. Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by Mr. Sunday Abdu, pledged the state’s collaboration with NEMA and promised to extend the awareness campaign to all local government areas.

The event also featured a flood sensitization exercise in Rikkos Community, including Hausa-language awareness sessions, resuscitation training by the Red Cross, and the donation of a first aid box by NEMA. The program was attended by local government representatives, community leaders, and key disaster management stakeholders.
