NEMA South South on 06:12:22, in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom SEMA and Nigerian Red Cross carried out the distribution of 3,943 (25kg) bags of Garri from the Grain Reserve to vulnerable persons in the state. NEMA team was led by Mr. Richard Idamkue. The state was led by Mr. Ekaiko Nkopuruk, Permanent Secretary Office of the Deputy Governor who represented the Deputy Governor of the state. Other state officials at the event were Dr. Mrs Grace Akpan, Director, AKSEMA and Mr. Isaac Umana. The Nigerian Red Cross was led by Ubong Jonah. The exercise took place at the SEMA warehouse, Uyo. The item was a donation by Mr. President from the Strategic Grain Reserve and distributed to vulnerable persons across the state.
Mr. Ekaiko thanked the federal government through NEMA for providing the relief materials as succour to the vulnerable persons in the state.
Hon Simeon Uyanga, Vice Chairman lkono LGA on behalf of all the 31 LGAs thanked NEMA and promised that the relief materials will be judiciously utilized by the recipients. The distribution was successful.
