A 2-storey building made up of 6 flats at Ifo Layout, Abakpa Enugu collapsed on early hours of Monday 19th June 2023. Notwithstanding the mandatory sit-at-home in the south East zone, NEMA South East Zonal Coordinator Ngozi Echeazu and the Emergency Response Team were at the scene for search and rescue operations. Other response/relevant bodies were also at the scene of the incident such as NSCDC, SFS, ENSEMA, POLICE and neighbourhood watch. SAR Operations is ongoing and is still uncertain if there are any trapped person(s). Also, efforts to mobilize a heavy duty vehicle (excavator) through the narrow roads that lead to the location of the incident is on-going.
