National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered 11,200 litres of liquid gel fertilizer to the River State Government for distribution to farmers impacted by the 2018 flood disaster. The handover took place at the River State Emergency Management Warehouse in CEDSI Warehouse off Abuloma road on October 31, 2024.
The Director General NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, in a remark by her representative explained that the fertilizer was approved by the National Food Security Council – Emergency Agricultural Intervention (NFSC-EAI) initiative and delivered by NEMA. Each litre of the liquid fertilizer is equivalent to 50kg of NPK 20-10-10 fertilizer and is intended to support farmers in Rivers State.
Governor Sir Siminlayi Fubara. represented by Dr.Mrs Fortune Akpila, Director of Administration Representing, Honorable Commissioner Of Special Duties Mr Samuel Anya, of Rivers SEMA, expressed gratitude to NEMA and the Federal Government for this support, emphasizing the importance of the fertilizer in revitalizing the livelihoods of affected farmers. He assured that the items would be distributed appropriately to the beneficiaries.
Present at the occasion were, Director SEMA Rivers Engr Tamunosiki Ogbanga,Mr Agada Sunday , Director Ministry of Agriculture and staff of the South South zonal office led by the Coordinator Mr Adebiyi Babatunde Razaq who represented the DG NEMA.
