






On June 19, 2025, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Minna Operations Office conducted an awareness campaign at Oloru Tanker Park in Moro LGA, Kwara State. The initiative was organized in response to the rising incidents of tanker explosions and fires across the state and aimed to educate drivers, truck owners, union members, and the public about the dangers of reckless driving, poor vehicle maintenance, and hazardous fuel scooping.
Representing the Director General of NEMA, Mr. Hussaini Isah emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety, while the Executive Secretary of KWASEMA, Mr. Moshood Mogaji, called for collective responsibility in disaster prevention. The campaign featured practical training sessions by the Nigerian Red Cross Society and the Kwara State Fire Service, focusing on emergency response and fire safety. Stakeholders, including the FRSC, NSCDC, NPF, NURTW, NUPENG, traditional leaders, and others, participated in the program.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Alhaji Suleiman Abdul Aziz, Vice Chairman of Moro LGA. Educational flyers and stickers were distributed in English, Yoruba, and Nupe to further spread the safety message. The campaign received widespread commendation, with union leaders pledging to enforce safety practices among their members.
